LOOK AT ME NOW...

Or look at what I'm lookin' at.

Facebook (NASDAQ: FB) is partnering with glasses OG, Ray-Ban, to make some dope augmented-reality glasses. But can they see it come to life?

WHY THIS IS HAPPENING...

It appears that Facebook has been working for years to create a set of shades that can replace smartphones but couldn't get past the original coke-bottle glasses. With Ray-Ban on onboard, it hopes to hit the market within the next few years with hopes that these Orion frames have more space age pimpin' than 8Ball & MJG put together. But to replace a smartphone though? How Sway? Well, some of its features include the ability to make calls, see sounds like N.E.R.D., and live stream their viewpoint when doing it for the 'Gram. The biggest issue seems to be that the glasses are big af and are too Steve Urkel•ish. Others have tried including Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) and Google (NASDAQ: GOOG/GOOGL) and now Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) wants to jump off the porch.

THE RETURN...

Facebook stock is up 39% so far this year.

CAN'T GET RIGHT...

So the IPO left.

WeWork (*no exchange chosen*: WE) has announced that due to lack of investor interest, it plans to pump the brakes on its IPO until further notice.

WHY THIS IS HAPPENING...

WeWork thought it was the sugar honey iced tea until it shed more light on the company preparing for a pre-IPO road show but found out its investors thought it was a little too unsweet. Turns out WeWork is trying to secure $6B financing but in order to do it it needs to raise at least $3B in an IPO and go public by the end of the year. Current estimates are $2B for an IPO which is $1B too short. You would think after making $1.8B last year the company would be Gucci but they actually had a net loss of $1.6B which is more like Fashion Nova. How does a company so large and in-charge report such a big loss? Two words: real estate. The commercial real estate game isn't one to be played with at scale unless you can find that cheese and with a potential recession coming, that's just not a good look fam.

THE RETURN...

Nothing to see here.

ALL EYEZ ON...

Retail therapy.

Yesterday, I shared some news about why energy stocks performed so well on Monday which ultimately is going to hit our pockets as consumers. But another industry might be taking a hit too ... retail department stores. If people are having to spend more money for gas, then that'll be less coins to use for outfits to do hoodrat things with friends. Of course, there are a few retail stores that you may be familiar with.

Wanna hear it? Here it goes:

  • Retail Stores: Nordstrom (NYSE: JWN); Macy's (NYSE: M); Dillard's (NYSE: DDS); JC Penney (NYSE: JCP); TJX Companies (NYSE: TJX); Burlington Stores (NYSE: BURL); Ross Stores (NASDAQ: ROST); Gap (NYSE: GAP)
